Lifestyle in a Class of its Own...

The Jeanne d'Arc Living Magazine.

This elegant journal is created in Denmark and printed in Norwegian, Swedish, English, Dutch, and German translations.

A big thank you to Carole at Maynard Greenhouse for sending me this complimentary copy of a recent issue, so thoughtfully wrapped in a floppy burlap bow and hand stamped flower petals

For quite some time I have seen snippets of the glorious photography and design on some of my favorite "International Blog Beauties" web sites.  Those Europeans just have a knack for design that is so irresistible!

I'm hooked.

Interior details.

Endless ideas.

Thank you Carole.  I have not put it down and am looking forward to receiving my next issue.  If any of you are interested in purchasing copies, you may contact Maynard Greenhouse for more information.  If you are interested in anything design related, this is a must have for your library.

Happy reading.

Ciao amici,

In My Studio Garden...

…grow paper peonies.

I made these stylized flower wands using bleached and unbleached coffee filters, twine, satin and organza ribbons, lace, sparkling rhinestones, and double winged butterflies, made from beautiful embossed white papers.

A bouquet of paper flowers in shades of creamy whites, old linen, coffee bean, and toffee ~ the natural and soft palette for this collection ~ was the result.

They are precious gathered in small bunches in wire baskets for a woodland outdoor party or randomly placed on rustic farm tables.

Indoors they are charming as well, placed in terra cotta pots wrapped in crocheted doilies and twine and sitting on a vintage desk.

In a few weeks I will be attending an art retreat in the foot hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, North Carolina. This Once Upon A Dream prairie fairy tale event is destined to be “a dream” for all those who attend! {For details you can click the link on my side bar.}

I will be participating as a vendor at the welcome night at The Crest Pavilion and this is one of my new collections I will be selling, as a homage to the prairie~tale theme of the art weekend. Vendor night is open to the public so any of you who are in the area, please stop by to say hello ~ I’d love to meet you in person.

Thanks so much for your visit.

Ciao amici,

Hooking up with White Wednesday and Good Life Wednesday today.

A Pretty Paper Garden

For the last couple of months I have taken some new directions creatively with product design.  I have been using what supplies I have had in my studio ~ paint, paper, notions, and other embellishments ~ in new ways.  Today here's a peek at some of what I have been up to recently...
...these lovely new products for your home and garden are some of my results and they are now listed in my Etsy shop.

These wooden flower boxes can grace your table for a special occasion or a sunny spot on a window sill.  They are pretty used as centerpieces with flowers or filled with utensils on a buffet.  They are also sweet on a desk filled with pens and pencils.

This rich Venetian bronze planter has the perfect palette for the autumn holidays.  Amber rhinestones are in the centers of each double bloom paper flower and the patina of the paint colour and paper's scroll motif create a vision of an aged relic.

Venetian Bronze Colour Story
{These items above are also in my Etsy shop.}

Each planter is hand crafted using the finest materials. Solid MDF is used for the walls and the base of the box, while tulip poplar is used for the hand routed and fluted trim.  The one inch ball feet are made of solid maple.

This Lemon Tree paper garden planter would look adorable on a Tuscan country kitchen table filled with fresh lemons or a bouquet of daisies.

 The planters are individually hand made and constructed in America ~ they are not stock items found in craft stores.

Lemon Tart Colour Story
{These photographs and booklets are available in my Etsy shop.}

Pink is the symbolic colour of hope for the month of October.

  What a beautiful gift this would be for someone you love...including yourself.

The outside of each of these flower boxes are covered with beautiful up-cycled wall paper.  I have used adhesive and gesso to seal the paper onto the boxes.

Coral and sea shell pink brushstrokes of paint compliment the lacy paisley pattern of this paper.  Pink rhinestones sparkle in the centers of the flowers on the corners of the planter.

 Paris Pink Colour Story
{These items above are in my Etsy shop, and more pink will be added throughout the month into October.}

As an interior designer I have access to some fabulous sources of paper and when they are discontinued, I get to keep the books and use the paper for whatever my heart desires. You may remember my collection of hand made matchbook style booklets using these papers that I made earlier this year.

These elegant commercial grade wall papers are so durable you can even wipe them clean with a damp cloth if a little soil gets on them.

I have hand painted the interior and bottom of each box using acrylic paints, blending the colours to coordinate with the wall papers.  The painted areas are sealed each with a coat of gloss or matte spray.

This Neoclassical motif of architectural elements and putti is one of my favorites. I love the look of the pen and ink renderings combined with the parchment colour paint that I used.

The corners of each box are embellished with hand punched double bloom flowers made from the same wall paper that covers the box.  There are twelve posies with brilliant rhinestone centers on each flower pot.

Neoclassical Black and White Colour Story
{Each of these items above are in my Etsy Shop.}

These are one-of-a-kind flower boxes due to the limited quantities I have of the wall papers and boxes, but I can coordinate colours and/or themes if you wish to order a set for a wedding or special event

I'll be showing you more of what I have been up to in my studio in future posts...hence the scarce blog posts and visits to your blogs lately.  I hope to catch up with all of you very soon.  I owe many of you a visit.

As always, thank you for stopping by.

Ciao amici,

Launching My Creativity

I have been so busy "launching my creativity" and making new products for my Etsy shop for the holidays and also for the fabulous Once Upon A Dream art event my friend Jennifer is hosting in October, {see my side bar for more details} that I have not had the time nor the frame of mind to write here.

However, I do have some kind words to express to a lovely someone who asked me a couple of weeks ago if she could feature me on her website, Launch Your CreativitySharon Hughes owns Pansy Cottage & Garden and writes on her blog of the same name, but also hosts seminars for women in the creative arts {or for those who wish to be}.  Her event, Launch Your Creativity is packed full of entrepreneurs, artists, writers, designers, and people from the publishing industry ~ many who are familiar names to us.

It was an honor {oh, I know that word is so overused} to be included among those she has featured and with whom she has worked. Little did I know that she has been following my blog for quite some time. How flattering. I am always appreciative of being noticed in this big blog land.

Thank you Sharon.  It's great to know you now and I hope all of you will take a moment to check out her web sites and blog where the Pansy Cottage Girl showcases and sells, "Practical beauty for your home."

Happy weekend all.  I will be posting photos of some new work next week.  All the pieces I will be showing you are one of a kind and the collections will be sold in limited editions only They will be available in my Etsy shop, My Front Porch,  and I will also be selling it at the Once Upon A Dream vendor and welcome night.  Stay tuned!

Ciao amici,

Happy Weekend

Wishing you all a very restful Labor Day weekend.
