Pretty Pinks

I love carnations.
I love their spicy fragrance and blooms that seem to last forever...

...and their old~fashioned charm.

I brought home this heavenly bouquet for Christmas and had these long stem blooms mixed with Frazier fir in a cobalt blue vase on our mantle.  It was lovely.

When we took down our Christmas tree and all associated limbs throughout our home, I saved these petite pinks and snipped them to fit in an Italian style rustic stone planter.

The other day, the light was so soft outside that I grabbed my camera and shot these dreamy images of the carnations on my dining room table.  The light coming in from the wall of paned windows provided a beautiful bokeh backdrop.

These flowers remind me of my Mother a little bit.  When I graduated from high school {a million years ago} I had a bouquet of pink carnations delivered to my Mom.  {My Dad helped me with the surprise that day.}

This sweet smelling bouquet is still making our noses tickle  ~ nearly two weeks since I brought them home from the market.

Happy first weekend of the New Year.

Ciao amici,
Suzanne
