Sandy Foot Paths & Picket Fences

Thirty years ago along the Gulf of Mexicotiny old fashioned town was created by the sea

Nostalgia and a desire to build a “new town with the old ways” was the vision.

The sandy foot paths between the pastel painted cottages and white picket fences

are what captured my attention this year at Seaside.

Weaving my way between cottages and eclectic picket fences...

under a canopy of live oak trees and palms in the dappled sunlight with the warm sea breeze keeping me cool...

I meandered my way along the sandy trails, speckled with seashells, discovering gazebos with intricate fretwork...

waiting for some company.

Pergolas welcomed me to cruise my rose coloured bicycle along the "ROSEWALK" paths...

and give me a few moments to "DREAM"

...while leading me to one of my favorite views of all...

from Tupelo Beach Pavilion.

Emerald seas
Cotton clouds
Mother Nature at her BEST.

Perfection.

Sugar sand.

I wanted more of this luscious view of the emerald sea, so I took the long way around along a boardwalk for another...

slice of heaven.

Savannah Beach Pavilion is striking with its architectural symmetry...

and even more so for its view, too.

This one I had all to myself for a few moments.  Then there were...

Happy...

...dancing feet!

Sandy steps to sand castles on the shore and...

a perfect Father's Day.

The charming architectural details are endless...

and this lattice bordered breezeway exudes Southern charm...

...while even a salvaged wooden gate finds its place as a piece of cottage garden architecture.

While some may claim that this town is contrived and too cute, it has an undeniable charm.

It invites tranquility and a slower pace, naps on the porch and bicycle rides through the village...no cell phones {there is no reception because of the tin roofs on the cottages} and no watches.  Time is told by the sunrises and sunsets.

It rejuvenates me every time I am here.

Don't you wish you were here?

Life is a beach, with a cherry on top!

Ciao amici,
Suzanne
