Cover Girls

I recently dug deep into my stash of pretty paper that I have collected for so many years, pulled out this set of four whimsical retro garden girls, and decided to use it as the inspiration for my latest handmade book collection.

These images used to be part of a calendar that I had hanging in my room when I was a "retro girl" and I have had in my personal collection of pretty paper since then. {Paper has always been one of my fetishes.}

Each booklet contains forty-eight pages of 50 pound acid free sketch paper. The book cover is made from two layers of repurposed designer wall paper. On the outside of the book cover is a giclée print of a vintage garden girl illustration by the artist Eva, circa 1970.  {Eva was a popular artist in the 1960's and 1970's who licensed her work on many paper products, but it is nearly impossible to find any information about her today.  If any of you know more about her art or her career, please do share!}

I have reproduced the artwork on 120 pound watercolour paper using the highest quality archival inks. On the inside of the book cover is a giclée print of the vintage garden girl as a bookplate for you to personalize with your name.

Each book is hand bound using hand dyed silky seam binding ribbons and tied with a floppy bow.  I have also included a bookmark made from coordinating repurposed designer wall paper with a ribbon tassel and petite pastel paper rosette.

Each is a one~of~a~kind booklet and sold individually; however there are four in this collection so if you love them grab the set while they are all still available! Although I may use this art for some other creations, these books will not be duplicated.

I think this collection would be a charming gift set for a young girl or collector of vintage art and illustration from that era...

...or for someone like me who has a pretty paper and book fetish!

The books are currently available in my Etsy shop, however I am offering the set of four for sale on My Front Porch at a special price.

As always, thank you for your visit and don't forget that I am celebrating my five years of blogging with a give away.  Click here for details on this previous post.  There are still ten days to enter.

Just Because

There are times when I feel that I should be apologizing for not posting on Italian Girl in Georgia as often as I used to...but then I remember that this blog is not an obligation, but something I do just because.  I have also noticed that many of us artful bloggers are not posting as often as we did a few years ago.  I am sure that for many, our little spot on the Internet takes a backseat when things get busy with our personal lives.

But when too much time passes, I begin to miss my spot and the connections that it creates.

So, no apologies. I will share my stories, photographs, and creations with you as often as I can, which may be just once a week or once a month and
I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do sharing it with you.

Lately, some of what has kept me busy is creating new work for my online shops.

My Etsy Boutique

My latest Etsy listings are photography vignette collections, which are sold in sets of four {for an affordable price of $60 compared to $30 for a single matted photograph}.  These fine art photo prints are printed in studio on your choice of glossy or matte finish Kodak or Fuji photo paper, or with archival Epson inks on gorgeous cold press premium luster finish professional photo paper.  Each image in the set of four is approximately 5" x 5" or 5" x 7" with a white border where I have signed my name and titled the photograph.

Quality is not compromised because of the fine paper and inks used in printing and what keeps these collections affordable is that they are not matted and still with the overall size being 8.5" x 11" they fit perfectly into a standard frame with or without a mat.

Here are the vignette collections now available in my Etsy shop ~

I gave a little sneak peek preview of my new Society6 shop a couple of weeks ago. In my Society6 I am showcasing my colour and monochrome photography on fine art prints and stretched canvases.  It's a great online art venue for you {the buyer} because you get to choose what size and what medium on which you want the image printed ~ canvas or paper.

In my Society6 my architectural photography is mixed with my macro images and still life photographs ~ many of which are not always offered in my Etsy shop.  Here are a few ~

These designs are in my Spoonflower library now ~

It's hard to believe that last month Italian Girl in Georgia celebrated its fifth blogoversary, which occurred the very same day as my little assistant's birthday, on August 11th.

We had quite a celebration here at home for the Birthday Boy with an outdoor movie theatre, concession stand, photo booth and eighteen rascals.

Since we had so much fun during movie night, don't you think I should do something here and celebrate with you?

Let's see...

How about a digital download jpeg file of one of my Spoonflower designs, which you can use for any of your own artsy projects or creations?  I'm not one to ask for followers, but I'd love it if you would check out my shops and let me know what you think.  Then leave a comment below and I will select a winner for a digital download of one of my All Gouached Up! designs shown in my shop ~ your choice.

The deadline to leave a comment is October 10th and I will announce a winner here on October 11th.  Good luck!

As always, thanks for your visit.  I hope to be doing this for another five years.

Summer Table

The glow of the afternoon sun...

with warm yellows and cool blues was the perfect table setting for a Mediterranean style summer dinner with friends.

Shasta daisies and boxwood sprigs cut from our garden placed in my hand painted Mexican sipping cups {which I use more often as individual vases instead of shot glasses} greeted each guest as they sat down at the table.

Italian blue and white dinnerware, bright yellow woven mats, lemon print napkins, and my new table runner and chair seat cushions in a batik style fabric I sewed earlier this year came together effortlessly.

It was so pretty that I did not want to mess it up with the food!

This classic palette of blue and yellow is timeless and one of my all time favorite colour combinations.  Claude Monet would be proud.

These two photographs above turned out so vibrant that I will be offering them in my Etsy boutique and my new Society6 shop, where my photography is available exclusively on framed fine art prints and stretched canvases.  But if you just can't wait, these other Mediterranean blues and yellows are in the shops now.

I hope you will visit me at my Society!

As always, thank you for joining me today.
