Cover Girls

 I recently dug deep into my stash of pretty paper that I have collected for so many years, pulled out this set of four whimsical retro garden girls, and decided to use it as the inspiration for my latest handmade book collection.

These images used to be part of a calendar that I had hanging in my room when I was a "retro girl" and I have had in my personal collection of pretty paper since then. {Paper has always been one of my fetishes.}

Each booklet contains forty-eight pages of 50 pound acid free sketch paper. The book cover is made from two layers of repurposed designer wall paper. On the outside of the book cover is a giclée print of a vintage garden girl illustration by the artist Eva, circa 1970.  {Eva was a popular artist in the 1960's and 1970's who licensed her work on many paper products, but it is nearly impossible to find any information about her today.  If any of you know more about her art or her career, please do share!}

I have reproduced the artwork on 120 pound watercolour paper using the highest quality archival inks. On the inside of the book cover is a giclée print of the vintage garden girl as a bookplate for you to personalize with your name.

Each book is hand bound using hand dyed silky seam binding ribbons and tied with a floppy bow.  I have also included a bookmark made from coordinating repurposed designer wall paper with a ribbon tassel and petite pastel paper rosette.

Each is a one~of~a~kind booklet and sold individually; however there are four in this collection so if you love them grab the set while they are all still available! Although I may use this art for some other creations, these books will not be duplicated.

I think this collection would be a charming gift set for a young girl or collector of vintage art and illustration from that era...

...or for someone like me who has a pretty paper and book fetish!

The books are currently available in my Etsy shop, however I am offering the set of four for sale on My Front Porch at a special price.

As always, thank you for your visit and don't forget that I am celebrating my five years of blogging with a give away.  Click here for details on this previous post.  There are still ten days to enter.

Ciao amici,
Suzanne
