I've got the summer blues...
...in my garden.
Earlier this season my Endless Summer Mophead Hydrangeas were bursting with beautiful bold blue blooms - almost lavender in hue. These are the prettiest hydrangeas we have had in our summer garden in several years. I was so happy!
(In previous years, they have been pale green.)
I had to have these inside up close, so I got my snippers and plucked almost all of them out of the garden before they wilted in the heat, along with some of our heavenly scented vintage gardenias, which have been growing in these gardens for decades and are close to the age of this house.
I made several arrangements throughout our home, but my favorite were placed in our dining room where the afternoon sunshine pours in.
The vintage hand painted ceramic pitcher I used for some of the flowers in is a Norwegian piece. I found it at a thrift shop in the Bay Area years ago. I love the delicate silk screen illustration of the blue and green flowers and flower girls.
(Some of you may recognize this as a Turi Design Lotte creation.)
This Italian cobalt blue ceramic planter is also one of my favorite containers and is a perfect pot for posies.
But most of all, the flowers with their gorgeous blues and creamy whites, filled the room with the color of our endless summer blues, and a heavenly scent reminiscent of the Old South!
Thank you as always for your visit and enjoy the last days of your summer.
