Ciao Italia

It's been a few weeks since my last post, but I have a good excuse {several in fact}...special occasions such as my son's First Holy Communion, birthdays, family visiting from out of state, end of school year festivities...you know the deal.  But the real reason I have been away so long is that I have been in Italy!

Well not physically, but in print and spirit, of course.  This was a serendipitous adventure and so unexpected, yet so enjoyable on many levels.

It began with the "Pretty Prairie Girl" held a storybook event in the foothills of North Carolina last autumn.

The event was published in the Italian giornale, La mia abitazione, Country & Country in March.  A gorgeous article with beautiful photographs made by The Fancy Farmgirl herself, Tiffany.

Unbeknownst to me, she snapped a few shots of my creations which I sold at the vendor market and allora, they were published in the magazine as part of the story.

Naturally I had to have a copy of the magazine for myself so I got my English Italian Dictionary off my book shelf and wrote to the editor asking to purchase a copy.  She so graciously sent me the magazine as a gift and then proceeded to ask me a million questions about myself, mia famiglia, mia casa, and mia creazioni.

Details aside, my home and studio along with projects in the works were published in this month's {Maggio 2012} issue of La mia abitizione, Country & Country.

{I am sitting on my hand painted chartreuse chair right now as I type this.}

She gave me eight pages in this beautiful magazine and translated my story perfectly.

{Snippets of my son's room above and my studio below.}

But she was not finished...she also did a feature of my work in Casa Romantica Shabby Chic this month ~ Maggio 2012.  {I think I may just have to fly to Italia to purchase a few more copies of these magazines myself!}

My "Fairy Tale Book" made it on the front page of the Table of Contents or "Sommario" {page 68}.

I also share the pages in this issue with Fifi O'Neill {she is on page 40}.

Several of my romantic hand made art pieces were selected, including my mixed media canvases and millinery pin board...

...and my shabby French inspired candles.

The story does not end in Italy...it returns to America, but with a European twist.  A lovely lady from Malta named Sonia whom I also met at the "Dream" event in the mountains decided to show off my work in her Spring 2012 issue of Creating Vintage Charm ~ Arts and Design for Pretty Living ~ magazine.

I am happy to be included among a terrific group of talented women entrepreneurs featured in this issue of Creating Vintage Charm...

...and so pleased that she chose to show off my favorite mixed media art pieces.  {I have not even listed my "Rooftop Garden Room" in my Etsy shop yet...not sure if I should sell it...}

Tanti grazie Cinzia for making me a part of your Italia and Sonia for gracing my work with your Vintage Charm.

I'm back in the studio now with a few more projects up my sleeve and will be back here soon.

Thank you all for stopping by to say hello.

Ciao amici,
Suzanne
