A Pretty Paper Garden

For the last couple of months I have taken some new directions creatively with product design.  I have been using what supplies I have had in my studio ~ paint, paper, notions, and other embellishments ~ in new ways.  Today here's a peek at some of what I have been up to recently...
...these lovely new products for your home and garden are some of my results and they are now listed in my Etsy shop.

These wooden flower boxes can grace your table for a special occasion or a sunny spot on a window sill.  They are pretty used as centerpieces with flowers or filled with utensils on a buffet.  They are also sweet on a desk filled with pens and pencils.

This rich Venetian bronze planter has the perfect palette for the autumn holidays.  Amber rhinestones are in the centers of each double bloom paper flower and the patina of the paint colour and paper's scroll motif create a vision of an aged relic.

Each planter is hand crafted using the finest materials. Solid MDF is used for the walls and the base of the box, while tulip poplar is used for the hand routed and fluted trim.  The one inch ball feet are made of solid maple.

This Lemon Tree paper garden planter would look adorable on a Tuscan country kitchen table filled with fresh lemons or a bouquet of daisies.

The planters are individually hand made and constructed in America ~ they are not stock items found in craft stores.

Pink is the symbolic colour of hope for the month of October.

What a beautiful gift this would be for someone you love...including yourself.

The outside of each of these flower boxes are covered with beautiful up-cycled wall paper.  I have used adhesive and gesso to seal the paper onto the boxes.

Coral and sea shell pink brushstrokes of paint compliment the lacy paisley pattern of this paper.  Pink rhinestones sparkle in the centers of the flowers on the corners of the planter.

As an interior designer I have access to some fabulous sources of paper and when they are discontinued, I get to keep the books and use the paper for whatever my heart desires. You may remember my collection of hand made matchbook style booklets using these papers that I made earlier this year.

These elegant commercial grade wall papers are so durable you can even wipe them clean with a damp cloth if a little soil gets on them.

I have hand painted the interior and bottom of each box using acrylic paints, blending the colours to coordinate with the wall papers.  The painted areas are sealed each with a coat of gloss or matte spray.

This Neoclassical motif of architectural elements and putti is one of my favorites. I love the look of the pen and ink renderings combined with the parchment colour paint that I used.

The corners of each box are embellished with hand punched double bloom flowers made from the same wall paper that covers the box.  There are twelve posies with brilliant rhinestone centers on each flower pot.

These are one-of-a-kind flower boxes due to the limited quantities I have of the wall papers and boxes, but I can coordinate colours and/or themes if you wish to order a set for a wedding or special event

I'll be showing you more of what I have been up to in my studio in future posts...hence the scarce blog posts and visits to your blogs lately.  I hope to catch up with all of you very soon.  I owe many of you a visit.

As always, thank you for stopping by.

Ciao amici,
Suzanne
