Simple Pleasures

...'been a little busy this week working on the cars in the garage.

Just fooling around with my son, building "cool" structures with
Tinker Toys and parking the Hot Wheels and tractors in their spots.
I would like to book a flight on that private jet soon!

Dreaming of Beach Days

The sky is bright blue but the air is still so chilly...just sitting here craving warm sunshine and beachy breezes...

"Hot Buckets"

These buckets and garden tools were stacked on a boardwalk a few feet from the Seaside sand on the Gulf of Mexico last Spring. I just love the colours and simplicity of these images. Perfect photographs on their own or as a pair for a beach house, cottage, mud room, child’s room, or garden shed.

"Cool Buckets"

I have just re-listed these in my Etsy shop today. Free shipping to anyone who orders and mentions in the "notes to the seller" section that they saw these on my blog.

Thank You Friends

I have been wanting to publicly thank a few special Etsians for regularly showing my work in their fabulously curated treasuries ~ some of which often make it to the Front Page. It is always fun to see that little gold star and find a piece of my work in an Etsy Treasury.

Now it's my turn to thank them properly, with this...

~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~

This goes to the following three talented and creative women:

Annette from Cottage in the Sun ~ beautiful vintage ceiling tin art

Holly from Winklepots ~ wearable art and accessories

Angela from Yippee Vintage ~ a sweet blend of old and new

You all are "Just Peachy" and I am so glad to know you. It makes having a shop on Etsy just that much more fun. If you know a peach feel free to pass this along.

Take a few moments and check out these fun shops on Etsy. It's worth a visit.

Also, late last fall Angela from Yippee Vintage, awarded me with the Marie Antoinette Award ~ Real Blogs, Real People. It was in the midst of holiday stuff, my getting this house ready for the photo shoot, adding new work to my shop, and so many other things that kept me from responding to this award. I apologize for the delay and I...

...thank you Miss Angela ~ what a treat.

Ciao amici,

Happy Valentine's Day My Friends

~ ~ ~
Even though it has become so commercial in these past years, it is still a special time around this house. Now with my son in pre-school, I thought I'd be crafty this week, so "we" made some Valentine cards for his class and teachers and baby sitters and grandparents and cousins and uncles...They turned out cute, but my son got bored with the project and I got tired of it! Perhaps next year we will go to the Dollar Store and purchase a box of cards.

For our date night, my husband waits all year for me to cook the "Traditional MacCrone Valentine's Meal" of decadent beef stroganoff that my Mom used to make for all of us when we were children and still makes for my Dad every year. I've changed the recipe just a tiny bit and instead of white mushrooms use shitake mushrooms and baby bellas, which make an incredible difference in the taste. Sour cream, butter, noodles, red wine, all that fattening stuff is in it and it's delicious and my husband always goes for seconds.
{This is why I make it just once a year.}

My heart sparkles...

and is a bit of a puzzle...

...but happy and full.

A few red roses...

...love notes,

a little monkeying around...

for always.

And the rest is up to you.

Have a lovely weekend my friends.

Ciao and tanti baci,
Suzanne

It Feels Like Spring...for a moment.

It feels like Spring is here for just a moment in the South, so I whipped up some bright new paper goods, which I will be listing in my Etsy shop later on today.

How many times are you scrambling for a piece of paper to jot down a phone number or an idea or a note to remember? “Notes on the Go” are perfectly suited for just that!

These mini note pads are 3” x 5”, are loaded with sixty (60) sheets of double sided ruled paper and spiral bound with a twin loop wire. Both the front and back covers are a sturdy vinyl ~ so no “dog eared” corners and they stay pretty.

The front cover is decked out with a print of one of my original All Gouached Up! paintings, initialed in ink and the spiral binding has a one and a half by seven inch(1 ½” x 7”) coordinating grosgrain ribbon tie on the corner ~ so you can find it easily in your hand bag, on your desk, or in your car!

These make fabulous party favor gifts, token of friendship gifts, Easter basket goodies, teacher’s gifts or of course, just for you.

"Gotta Go!"

For the Birds

I've got a little printing press in my studio and these cute chicks have flown the coop right off the hot presses into my Etsy shop!

Should I pick this daisy for my Momma?

Just hatched and looking for a friend.

The vibrant colours and bright pastels I used in these paintings evoke the beginning of Spring, one of the prettiest and most cheerful times of the year.

These originals sold out in my Etsy shop last Spring so quickly that I thought I'd go for a second act with prints of these critters. The paintings were first illustrated in pen and ink, and then painted in gouache and watercolour on Strathmore acid free, cold press 140 lb. watercolour paper. The original image size was approximately 5 1/2" x 7 1/2".

These are printed in my studio on 8 1/2" x 11" Kodak Ultra premium high gloss 74 lb. photographic paper. The image size is still approximately 5 1/2" x 7 1/2" with a white border allowing for framing. The price is an affordable $15 and each print is hand signed in ink before I ship. The colour is as intense and the originals and they fit perfectly into a standard frame. Another option is to mat them to a larger format and place them in a larger frame or hang with simple glass and clips.

A little birdie told me that these are also still available as art magnets for only $8 a pair.

They are fabulous and fun magnets for just about anything or nothing at all ~ they are works of art in themselves. Each magnet can hold between five to eight sheets of paper, depending on the weight of course. They are water resistant ~ just wipe them clean. Great for your child’s “refrigerator art,” inspiration boards, home office, laundry room, mud room, even in your bathroom! Also, consider using these as terrific party favors, Easter basket goodies, gift adornments, or hostess gifts.

These adorable reversible grosgrain ribbon belts are also great gifts for Easter baskets when paired with the chick prints and even for "graduation" gifts from preschool.

My gift to you...FREE SHIPPING if you mention in the notes to the seller section on Etsy checkout that you read about these products on my blog or saw them on Flickr. As always, if you are interested anything here or on my Flickr photostream that are not listed in my Etsy shop, just let me know and I will be happy to do a custom order for you.

Thank you for stopping by.
